Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) at Maghull High School

At Maghull High School, we are proud to be an inclusive and supportive community where every student is encouraged to Aspire, Achieve, Enjoy. We work hard to ensure all young people feel valued, supported, and able to thrive both academically and personally.

Our Approach

Our SEND team plays a key role in supporting students who need extra help. However, we believe every teacher is a teacher of SEND, and we have high expectations for all learners.

Some students may need additional support for a variety of reasons. Our aim is to remove barriers to learning so every child can access the curriculum and school life fully. We provide support in an inclusive way, using strategies and interventions that build confidence, independence, and essential life skills—preparing students for Post-16 education and adulthood.

Inclusive Curriculum

We offer a curriculum that supports all learners to become confident and independent. Alongside academic success, we focus on life skills, employability, and resilience for the future.

Our Graduated Approach

Support for students with SEND follows a Graduated and tiered approach, tailored to individual needs:
Wave 1 – Universal Support
High-quality teaching and classroom strategies for all students.
Wave 2 – Enhanced Support
Additional targeted support where needed.
Wave 3 – Specialist Support
Individualised provision for students with more complex needs.
